What is your motivation for learning Spanish?
In my opinion, the key to success is motivation. Motivation determines a student's commitment and tenacity. Will you give up when things get hard or will you keep going?
I like to support students wherever they are in their journey.
Maybe... someone wants to do well in a class, or someone wants to communicate with Spanish-speakers at work, or someone wants to teach their child Spanish and learn along with them, or someone wants to travel to a Spanish-speaking country, or... someone just realizes how valuable it is to be able to speak more than one language, or the challenge of continually learning something to keep your mind sharp.
There are many reasons to learn another language.
What are yours? Whatever you decide, the reason ought to be strong enough to keep you going when things get hard. What are your goals?
Learning a language takes place in meaningful, real life situations. With adequate and correct practice (first guided practice, then independent practice), students can make meaning out of their learning and remember new concepts. No matter what the reason is for learning a language, a common goal should be to communicate. Since that is what language is, a communication tool.
